Guji Hambela Dimtu, located in Ethiopia's Oromia Region within the Guji Zone (Hambela Woreda, Dimtu Kebele), is a high-altitude coffee-growing area renowned for its exceptional specialty coffees. Situated between 1,950 and 2,200 meters above sea level (msl), this region’s elevated terrain and cool climate create ideal conditions for slow coffee cherry maturation, intensifying flavor complexity. Over 2,500 smallholder farmers cultivate coffee here, each managing an average of 3.5 hectares, blending traditional practices with modern processing techniques. The coffee is processed using both natural (sun-dried) methods and innovative carbonic maceration—a controlled fermentation technique that enhances fruit-forward profiles while preserving terroir-driven characteristics. This combination of altitude, artisanal farming, and advanced processing establishes Guji Hambela Dimtu as a distinctive origin for bright, floral, and wine-like coffees.
